Telephone and Wired Data connections
|
First you should select the location of anywhere you may want a phone or wired high-speed internet connection, running the lines during construction is cheaper then adding them later and it won't damage your building envelope or leave you with unsightly wires outside, and since you will probably roll the cost of pre-wiring into your mortgage the added cost of putting in a few extra lines will be pretty insignificant, and again, since we can put up to 6 jacks in the same outlet, both the data and phone jack can be in the same one.
Choosing a Telephone/High-Speed Service Provider The service provider your choose will not affect the wiring inside your home. General Considerations; In addition to any connections required for TV equipment (see next step), we recommend that at least 1 phone and 1 data line be installed in each room, except home offices, family, living rooms and bed rooms where we recommend 2 combination phone/Data outlets in 2 separate locations, preferably on opposite ends or corners of the room. Home-theater, living, and family rooms can always afford to have additional phone and data outlets. The data line can be omitted in garages or other utility spaces but they should still have a phone line. To move on to the next step, TV Locations, click HERE
