Multi-Zone Audio Distribution
|
This section covers the distribution of music or other audio-only programs from source equipment in one central location to multiple areas throughout the home, indoors or out. If this isn't what you're interested in you can select another Sub-Category from the menu above. Audio Distribution System Equipment falls into 3 basic categories; Analog, Basic Digital, and Advanced Digital. All involve the installation of 1 or more pairs of in-ceiling, in-wall, or 'regular' free standing speakers, an analog amplifier or digital controller, and a local wall-mounted volume controlling device. Regardless of the type of distribution equipment you choose to install, you simply need to decide in what areas or "Zones" (indoors or out) you want speakers in, and where you want their respective volume controllers. We use nationally recommended standards when wiring these systems and this method allows for the use of all types of currently available audio distribution equipment, from basic Analog to fully digital. This also allows you to install a lower cost basic Analog system today and upgrade to a digital system later without having to fish new lines. Typically the volume controlling devices are located next to the light switches for that area. Speaker selection and placement can involve several factors; To view our Speaker Selection and Placement Tips page click HERE Analog Systems Analog systems are the most cost effective but offer the least amount of control; only 1 audio program can be distributed throughout the entire system at any given time and source selection and control cannot be done remotely without additional hardware. Any regular home stereo amplifier can be used to power this type of system with the addition of the proper remote Volume Controllers. 'Basic' Digital Systems 'Basic' systems operate using a central digital controller unit connected to your source equipment with remote digital in-wall keypads. Using the keypad each source can be independently selected and played through that zone's speakers without interfering with the audio program playing in other rooms. The ability to control the actual source components is limited to the use of a handheld remote control of some kind; the keypad and digital controller cannot themselves directly control the source components. 'Advanced' Digital Systems 'Advanced' systems also operate using a central digital controller unit and remote digital keypads. The benefit over 'Basic' systems is that each of the sources can be independently selected and controlled using any keypad. Additionally, 'Advanced' systems incorporate a higher level of integration capabilities allowing direct communication with and feedback from other types of compatible equipment such as computers, home automation and/or security systems, etc. Click one of the links below to learn more about our....
